Exemption Clauses in Commercial and Consumer Contracts

Following the success of Exemption Clauses in Commercial and Consumer Contracts run last November we are pleased to offer this course again in Glasgow on 5 May 2010. This intensive one-day course examines the legal theory and practice of those contract clauses which attempt to restrict or exclude the liability one party may have to the other if it breaches the contract. It is suitable for those who are legally aware or legally qualified or delegates who have already completed introductory ‘Essentials’ courses in Contract Law and Contract Drafting.

Product Liability

We are pleased to offer this one-day course on Product Liability in Glasgow on 6 May 2010. Product liability is an area of growing importance for many organisations. The implications can be wide ranging and as legislation becomes more stringent it is important for those involved in designing products and services for third parties to understand what their obligations are both under the civil and the criminal law. Those involved in procuring goods and services should also be aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to their purchases.

Purchasing Contracts

Our talented legal trainer, Graham Fuller has just published a second edition of his authoritative book Purchasing Contracts: a practical guide. This book will be particularly appreciated by those working with contracts for the procurement of goods and services and is not just another contract law textbook. It is published by Spiramus Ltd and is available both in hardback and softback at £49.95 and £24.95 respectively.

"Graham Fuller’s book would be a useful addition to any purchaser’s library. It deals in a logical manner with all of the law a buyer is likely to encounter." Supply Management.

This second edition contains additional chapters including one on the special rules governing purchasing by public bodies and utilities. The subjects of misrepresentation, exemption clauses and electronic contracting are amongst those that have been updated and covered in more detail. The bill currently going through Parliament on bribery is also tackled.

We are updating our popular Essentials of Contract Law and Essentials of Contract Drafting courses to mark the publication and will be offering them in London on 17 and 18 May and in Glasgow on 14 and 15 June. To mark the occasion of the publication of the new edition delegates will receive a complimentary paperback copy of the book.
